Understanding Dis-ease
In 2009 I lost my brother to Addison’s Disease. A rare endocrine disorder where your adrenal glands cease function. He was 35 when he passed, needless to say this experience and grief affected me quite deeply for several years. A few years later my sister was diagnosed with cancer, which was a traumatic shock yet showed me how we all are not our stressors – we are our reactions. I’ve never seen such strength in a person like I did my sister, even in the middle of hard-hitting chemotherapy treatments. It was an incredible inspiration, I practice daily gratitude for her remission and presence in my life. In 2022 I ended up facing cancer myself. In the same year I was also diagnosed with Endometriosis. These experiences further strengthened my passion for sharing sustainable, healthy living – both mentally & physically.
My Story
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher and health & wellness-minded counselor with a love of nature, animals, minimalism and living a balanced life full of authenticity and kindness.
At age 20, I was diagnosed with IBS after 4 years of very painful illness following salmonella poisoning. I then embarked on a nearly 15 year journey to find relief. After discovering a strong family history of endocrine diseases, I went gluten free in 2009 which helped alleviate some of my digestive issues.
It wasn’t until my doctor recommended the low-FODMAP diet that my life & health changed dramatically. I am now on a journey to continue to understand nutrition and helping others with their health as well. I’m a strong believer of the mind-gut connection and balance is needed in both places in order to achieve lasting results.
I was born & raised in rural Wisconsin which rooted me with a love of the outdoors and nature. My current home is split between Brisbane, Australia & Menomonie, Wisconsin.
I thoroughly enjoy yoga, hiking, cooking, photography, gluten-free banana bread, documentaries, peanut butter, rainbows, and befriending neighborhood cats.
If anything I’ve said resonates with you, you’re looking for some support, a vegan or gluten free personal chef for your home or small event, collaborations, yoga, or simply fancy a cuppa – my door is always open!
